FROM ANYWHERE TO SOMEWHERE
Exploring authorship in theatre making
About the workshop
From Anywhere to Somewhere is A 7-day residential workshop conceived and facilitated by Mahesh Dattani.
Through this workshop, we aim to explore the subtle differences and implications in different forms of authorship of plays. Many theatre practitioners today eschew the text as the starting point, instead using an ensemble, or language, or an event or theme as the creative engine of their practice. These engines are the maypole around which dramatic conflicts and resolutions are found and built on.
But how do we codify these emerging processes? How do we ensure that we don’t start from scratch every time, that there are grounding practices, frames, aims and steps to achieve an end goal, regardless of where we begin?
Whether you’re an actor or a writer, if you’re looking to think differently about your creation process, if you want to draw a map to mark out which routes are available and with what implications, this could be for you.
